April: Salads and Tomatoes

It's time for some fresh salad!

Salads: In March I sowed a load of lettuce and spinach in the poly-tunnel, in a propagator, the type with a reservoir underneath called a Saladgrow. I went into the tunnel a couple of days ago, and blow me down, there they are, the first salad crop of the year!   Order your salad leaves HERE

Tomatoes: I’ll be starting my tomatoes very shortly.  I am going to grow a lot of ‘Tumbler’ this year, because it will give me a chance to fill up hanging baskets and not worry about having to make up baskets around the cottage!  I am having a hunch that we are going to have some great tomato growing weather. I also want to grow lots of ‘Pomodoro’ because I want to make my own passata later in the year.
