Where to sow
Early sowings under cloches and from mid-April direct into open site in drills 1.5cm (3/4'') deep, spacing seed 5cm (2'') aprt. Space rows 35cm (15'') apart or if using supports 60cm (24'') apart.
Mr DIGWELL just tops and tails the pods and steams or lightly boils. Always pick regularly to ensure continuous cropping. Large pods tend to become stringy and fibrous.
What to do next
Protect seed and young seedlings from bird damage by covering with netting. Put up supports, if required, as soon as seedlings emerge.
